Cons of having AMEX Platinum Card
Big Annual Fee
Many travel cards charge less than $100 per year for amazing rewards and benefits. Others charge $450, which is a standard fee for premium cards.
The American Express Premium Card fee is $695. But it is challenging to quantify its benefits.
Limited rewards earning
You won`t earn more than 1 point per dollar when using the Platinum Card from American Express. Some cards give you rewards like 2 miles per dollar spent on a purchase.
Limited-use credits
With the AMEX Platinum card, you will get $200 for the airline fee. But some of the competitors can give you from $250 to $300, including any travel expenses.
While the entire list of credits on your annual statement together is superior to the monthly cost, you’ll need to make use of them to receive any benefits. It’s not an easy task if you do not live in a city with Equinox gyms or an airport served by CLEAR. Credits won’t help you when you’re being enticed to buy more expensive items to redeem the credits for a single time.
